Skin Conditions...Dermatitis
Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin and can be from numerous
causes. The causes of dermatitis can be from exposure to chemicals,
cleaning agents, detergents, medications, certain plants, and even
some skin and personal care products. Often, dermatitis is caused
by irritants that one comes into contact on a routine basis, but
can be from a new product. The most common dermatitis is contact
dermatitis, like what one would get from poison ivy or oak. Dermatitis
often presents as red patches on the skin that have itching associated,
and can include blisters in severe cases. Treatment depends on the
type of dermatitis that you have and the severity of the symptoms.
Treatment also includes education of avoidance and investigation
of causes. Dermatitis can resemble a fungal
infection and eczema.
